I just bought an '88 F250 Centurion with a C6. I have an IDI e4od sitting around. What would it take to swap it in to replace the C6?

I figure I'd need an aftermarket transmission controller. I'd need to add a button on the dash. Does the tranny just bolt in, no spacers or adapters required? Can the e4od use the C6 FIPL? What other things would I have to add or change?

You'll Need a tps on the pump. The vrv is vacuum operated. A different trans crossmember. Trans controller. Look for a proper length driveshaft. The od lockout button. Misc wiring I suppose . Others will chime in.

I believe I have the cross member and tps from the parts truck the e4od came out of. Might have to have a drive shaft altered.

If you have a donor truck you can use the TCM and wiring off of it too. For the most part should be plug and play.

Make sure you swap the flex plate over. One trans uses a spacer, one does not. I don't recall which is which though.

I have the ragged-out engine that was in front of the e4od, so I do have the spacer.. The C6 isn't working right, so I'd rather pay to get the e4 fixed than the C6. If I'm going to put this on the road I'll want od, it's 100 miles to the big city.

The E4 can use a C6 flex plate. both are four hole. The spacer is for the stamped flex plate.
You will need a tach sensor, VSS, and TPS to make it work.

On my 91 the vss is near the tail of the trans. The speedo cable runs through it . Mine is 2wd

4x4 used the same setup but it is on the t-case tail shaft.

Whew! VSS on the t-case means I have it. If it was on the rear differential it'd be a problem, because I didn't get that axle. I could swap in the newer t-case along with the newer transmission.

If it came from an aero nose truck I am unsure. If it was from a bricknose the sensor is probably still missing unless you have the speedometer cable still attached.

Aero gets the vss from the cluster. Brick gets it from the transmission output or t case I believe.

88 will get the speed reading from the transfer case or tail shaft if 4x2.
To keep your speedometer working, you will need a VSS for a 89-91.
The speedometer cable passes through the VSS on this set up.
