Hey all kind of like they say for new comers or imports (hence the user name) here in Texas I wasn't born here but got here as quick as I could.

Well I was born over on TDS, have nothing but good things to say about that sight.
I was able to find more info over here about what I'm working on and hopefully I'll be able to contribute here.

I bought my 93 back in march of this year first diesel I ever owned. Grew up on a farm and ranch in Kansas so I've been around them and worked on them but never owned one. I picked it up from an old man that was dying of cancer God rest his soul, and he wanted his "baby" to be left in good hands. Well I did my best and revived the ole girl "Lizzy" is what my Dodge loving Cajun father in law called it, and it stuck.
Well I bought my 94 from some local folks who werent to mechanical they thought the motor was dead and had let the cats take over the cab for about a year. Needless to say it wasn't pretty when I pulled her home. I bought the 94 cause it had the turbo and the body was better shape than the 93. I picked it up for $600. I was just going to swap turbo onto the 93 and some body parts then scrap the rest.
But before i did that I decided to check out the motor and see what was going on. Well low and behold it was just over filled with oil and needed a new injector pump. Which the ole man from the 93 had given me an extra one off a 6.9.
So after draining the oil and changing the IP and a few other tweaks, Lizzy II came to life.
So I cleaned her up, a complete stripping of the interior and power wash then several boxes of baking soda.
She is now my daily driver. Wish I had a 4wd but I'm fine without it for now.
Came over here looking for the right Cold Air Intake for me and have found a lot more usefull information.
Well sorry for the book but just wanted to get myself introduced proper.

Thank you Thank you!!
heres what I wanted to put in my sig
I cant take credit for it not sure where it came from

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of showin up safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, hunting rifle in one hand and shifter knob in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

There we go got her in my avatar!
Well so far thats the only pic I have.
She needs a tailgate, cold air intake, 3" downpipe, pyro and boost guage, windows tinted, radio, front end rebuilt, new headliner and drivers door panel, fresh paint, rims and taller narrow tires.
Other than that she's cherry!!!

Welcome to about the best idi forum on thw net. I came over from tds too many years ago. I wanted a change and Have never gone back. The tds has some very good members over there. Some here actually "commute" back and forth staying in touch. I feel this site has way more collective knowledge than any Ford Dealership out there... We don't charge to when you come here asking questions. Ford will charge you to "tel you" yep.. You got a problem... Then they attempt to repair it. We don't charge.. We just fix...:sly

YEAH wow only been here a few hours and already have a notebook full of ideas and things to do.
First thing I'm working on is CAI I think I'm gonna do Godzilla stlye which I still can't find the original poster or pics.
I think I'll use a k & n just not sure which one to get, have several for sale on CL for decent price but want to get as big as possible for the passenger side area.
I'm also not apposed to getting new from the ap store but I always check around for good deals in the classifieds.
I think AGNEM used one out of a Toyota something or other for his moose air but I can't seem to find the P/N or which toyota it came out of
Anybody remember what he used?

Yeah I would like to do the cowl and I may still do it but I was really wanting to get rid of that stock oven (air box) on top of the engine.
I've been trying to find another "box" filter I could put inline with the turbo and cowl.
Just haven't found what I'm looking for yet.
I too have read bad things about k&N but I have also read good things the best thing I heard was from a friend who is running a k&n CAI on his PSD and sends in oil samples to Blackstone about every other oil change and has never had any silicone or other impurities come back that are related to air filter quality.
I on the other hand on my last oil change sent in a sample and came back with some silicone in my oil and other impurities and I only had 3,000 on my oil change and had just put on a new wix in my stock oven I also have only run in town so very little dust to speak of where I have been driving. So whatch ya gonna do.
I guess I'm kinda old school in thinking the k&n with the oil treatment is going to stop a lot more. Kind of messy i know but nowa days folks want fast and easy and that is not what a oil bath filter is all about.
I don't know but I have a feeling that the folks that have bad experiences with the k&n oil baths probably didn't give it a proper bath my opinion, I have no facts to back that up its just the most logical explanation. Unless they just got a bad one

ya that is the problem with the cowl intake. you have to keep you factory air box unless you can fab a box up to house a high flow filter and still be able to filter.

that is like waht i was thinking of for use with the cowl intake.

it does look kind of small.:sly

after some more looking at it with some imagination and slight fab skills i think one could make that up. the trick would be figuring out how to get the air to pass threw the filter, other than that it would be easy.
