I did some checking on the USPS website one day, they had some figures on there, they bragged about how many packages they handled every day, then there were figures about how many never made it and were never accounted for, a little quick math and I figured out that the USPS LOSES enough packages to fill a very large aircraft hanger.... every single day

I used to loan out tools on a european car group and I would use DHL and would include a prepaid return label in the package so all the person had to do was call for a pickup. Fedex has since bough DHL out and while not as good as DHL, they will provide the same service.
This way the items were tracked from my door , out and back and insured, that way, there was no chance that anyone could get in a bind over anything You know who signs for it, and they know when you got it back costs a few more bucks, but takes all the guesswork out.

UPS breaks most of what they handle around here, that one is a crap shoot and nobody ever collects from their insurance, they take the item ' for inspection' and that's the last you ever hear of it no matterr how much you pester them , then ironically, they turn around and sell the broken unit on ebay.

NOPE..been there,,and the usps screwed me out of 87.51..they just delay you,and delay you..and it was insured...as one said,,forget even a stool sample..

never had an issue getting my money back outta an insured package that was lost. walk in with the insurance paper. they track it, if it is indeed lost you get your money. it really helps if its got sig confirmation on it too.

I only ship usps priority, I will not use fed x or ups, if I did the injector sets would be 20 dollars more. Always insure ans track.

I am the one in Kentucky that the meter never made it to. I hate that this happened and that it was suppose to be coming to me when it happened. I was planning on using FedEx or UPS when I return shipped it, insured and forward the tracking number to gary. In my experience with USPS, even if you do get a tracking number they are not very good about updating the tracking info. In my opinion UPS or FedEx is worth a little extra to be able to know where your package is and be able to track it down if something happens. I keep checking the mail everyday hoping it will show up but its been so long now, I'm doubting it'll make it to me, hopefully it'll make it back to Gary!

This is exactly why I only ship international stuff US Mail, and I hate doing THAT. FedEx for domestic shipment only. Yea it costs a little more, but they've yet to screw me even once!

dont use the USPS!during my time on ebay and selling stuff to people on websites ive had many things get lost or damaged in the mail.i found ups was the best way to go.

my intercooler was shipped by UPS.i got it with broken mounting tabs.i emailed the ebay seller about it and about 2 weeks later i got a check from ups for the cost of the cooler and shipping.i wasnt even worried about it.used it anyways

I have had only bad experiences with UPS latterly.

If you live outside of the US, BEWARE as UPS has a nice list of extra charges they saddle you with and don't tell you about at time of sending the package. They claim it is the customers responsibility to find out these charges beforehand - even though UPS does not mention these extra charges up front !!!!.

My current UPS shipment puts me out of pocket some $360 and they now want another $94 before they release the package. Oh, and yeh, UPS has taken five weeks to move a 10lb package some 2000 miles. I could have done it with Greyhound for about $35 and a week of travel (bus) time. I am disputing the charges and have the credit card company involved with getting my money back.

Another fustercluck by UPS - I bought a solar powered warning light - cost $46.00

UPS shipping cost $35.00 Handover fee to get the light - $68.00. I told UPS to shove the light where the sun don't shine and that they should send the light back to the vendor at their cost.

Haven't heard a word from UPS and doubt that I ever will.

I am very happy to let p[eople know just how bad UPS is when shipping outside of the USA !!!

I would trust USPS every time over UPS.

My company uses UPS for all our domestic shipping and for small international frieght shipping. WE have an account, get great rates, and whenever there is an insurance issue, it's handled quickly.

Some of out vendors use FEDEX to us, we've had some pretty battered packages come from them.

We use DHL for quick shipping internationally. Quick, and painless, except to the wallet.

UPS allows you to print the label, and print a return label as well to put in the box. I would reccomend using a high quality plastic shipping rated box with plenty of fragile stickers. Will last longer than a cardboard one that may have developed a weak spot in transit and blow out on a later trip.

Shipping can be a crapshoot. I very much prefer to pick things up in person and pay cash.

I was installing communications lines at a fedex and its amazing how many packages are dropped from 10ft plus off of conveyors. There were only a handful of people that spoke english as well lol.

I'm still trying to figure out how UPS broke a 1" drive heavy impact gun on me in transit. I've personally driven over 2 or 3 of those things with big trucks and not hurt them ( and the driver tried to run up and drop it trhashed side of the box down while I was working on a customer car , but I made her wait till I checked , good thing, but they still never honored the damage claim, just left me holding the bag as usual . ( someone suggested they have conveyers over 30 ft off teh ground at their main sorting facility and stuff goes flying off all the time, and heavy stuff like that leaves divits in the concrete and they just ignore it, even though they have to gather up the pieces to get them back in the carton )

My dad drove for a company that hauls the US bulk mail. I made one trip with him to Detroit. We never touched the packages(not allowed) but did watch them unload it and sort the trailer. It was like watching the Harlem Globetrotters warm up. Lots of bins and "Players" tossing packages from center court.

I take EXTRA care in padding whatever I have to ship by USPS now.
