Working on a 2000 7.3psd, having issues with it running hot egt's on slight incline pull about 65mph sometime have to drop down to 55mph. Tonight I pulled the intercooler tubes and boot to check for damage, didn't see any sign of that. Gonna also have the intercooler pressure checked/cleaned, anything else I am missing or should check. P.s. turbo has no endplay. Anything will help at this point, thanks.

0 at idle is normal, going down the road if there’s any incline you should see 1 maybe 2, at 60 mph you should see 1 or 2 also. Are you seeing this or nothing until more load. What are the EGT your seeing at 65 to have to drop back to 55? Is your air filter clean?

Do you have a filter minder on it? If you run it hard through the gears does the filter minder pull in?

I would pull the intake air tube to turbo and run the truck at idle, cut off the truck and verify that it takes a little time for it to stop spinning. I would check the sealing oring from turbo outlet to spider, then would pull off each intercooler connector and clean oil residue from boot and pipe, then spray with hair spray and reassemble. If still low after this I would make a plug to pressurize intercooler and check for leaks. It doesn’t take much of a boost leak to cause the problem your seeing.

level ground, steady speed with no load, a good rule of thumb is mph x 10 to get an expected EGT.

So 65mph on level ground at a steady speed unloaded should be around 650 F

Uphill throws that out the window though. Have you tested the gauge itself with shop air? Does the truck make power?

if your not seeing any boost at 65 mph ( flat ground or on a hill) and your turbo spins free w/no end play then i would check the waste gate and make sure it's not stuck wide open. better make sure your ebpv isn't partially closed as well. you might want to check your fuel psi to make sure you have sufficient psi and are not leaning out. i would start with the wg as no boost at 65 mph mean lack of drive pressure and the wg will dump it all especially if you have up pipe leaks along with it. if your running stock injectors on that 00 psd then close that wg, tighten up the controller and unplug it. stock inj's will not over boost that turbo. i ran like that for many many pulls w/o issues on my e99. your stock wheel will have an issue at 19 psi which is what the wicked wheel 2nd gen fixes.

65mph level ground no load I hardly see any boost.

Floored stock should see about 15psi max.
