Edit: forgot to say, bf-nowhere Saskatchewan this morning set a new earliest record low temp: old record was -14, new one = -27!
 You all can keep that kind of thing to your selves!:joker:
You have to be careful with that kind of game. Sometimes after the "pounce, gotcha!' part it will still try to sneek farther into the bush. At least that's better than trying to flatten your truck!

Thought I would share an interesting occurrence. This morning I went to get my mom some coffee. The turbo I have whistles a lot. I parked the truck, was walking into store and a guy stopped me and pointed. My bottom radiator hose was leaking. I said thanks and started to go investigate. He began to share his vast knowledge on engines. He told me because of how loud my turbo is, he could tell that it was creating too much cylinder pressure and it was leaking through my head gaskets and creating pressure in the cooling system. And that was why it started leaking. (The clamp wasn’t very tight and the hose had started to slide off a little).

I am not really that person who is going to argue or call anybody out so I just let him do his thing. I tightened the clamp, bought some coffee, and then went home.

Begrudgingly stayed up late to change oil. Was slightly ashamed when she sounded much better on start up. Hate when its obviously been a little too long

The chrome was crap, so I blacked every thing out. And being the headlights are so dim stock, I put in a light bar behind the new grill and some fog lights on the underside of the bumper. Paint don't look too bad for a garage job.

Reminds me of one of the first days (several years ago) that I drove my 91 Jetta Diesel. I stopped at the gas station for a pop and some coffee.... a guy walked up and asked if I need help, or a ride somewhere.... I asked why, he said with that rod knock, I'm not sure you are going to make it out of the parking lot... I laughed and told him it was a diesel..... he gave me a funny look, and asked again if I needed a ride... I said not, thank you I live right around the corner (which I do) and I think I will make it home......

Yep, I changed the oil in the 11 SuperCrew EB, and it sounded much happier... I wasn't really over, but you could tell a difference. You can tell it's turbocharged, with almost the exact same amount of miles on the engine and oil change, the 3.7 N/A is much cleaner than the 3.5 EB.

Had a guy once state -- matter of fact like -- the fuel pump on my 90 jetta TD was failing, cause the idle wasn't steady. I thanked him, said I'd look into it asap and buggered off in a cloud of black smoke. (I tweaked the enrichment aneroid often)

The car now has 2.2 million clicks on it, with the same fuel pump. Synthetic oil is almost like a balancing job on those things. Fine cars the mark 2.

But... Did you make it home? LOL

I heard a similar story, guy followed this truck into a gas station and started going on about how with the smoke and the rattle his truck was going to explode, and he should know because he's ASE certified....

Wouldn't surprise me if it's a true story but, I really have to hope it wasn't!

Actually, yes. LOL... I put several thousand more miles on it as my daily driver before I sold it. Sometimes I wish I had kept it... it wasn't a bad little car. It had something like 310,000 on it when I sold it......

This never happens to me.

Oh yeah, I get funny looks, alright, because of all the "smoke" when I am sitting at a light, or whatever. (Blowby, coming from the DDT.)

But no one ever actually says anything to me.

I am too scary looking to the average Joe, I guess.

Mine was kind of the opposite. A few weeks after I first started working at the local Good Year store back in 2006, I was in the shop while the manager's 15 year old son was doing an oil change on some type of Oldsmobile. It was the type where you have the engine running, trans in neutral, and remove a plug on the side of the transmission to check the trans fluid. The car was in the air on a lift and the engine sounded rough. There was another guy working there who had been a mechanic at a couple of GM dealerships. I turned to him and started to make a smart a** remark about how I didn't realize that they put a diesel in those cars when the light bulb came on. I yelled at the kid to lower the lift quick because there was no oil in the engine. When the lift got low enough, I jumped up on one of the arms and reached in through the window and shut the key off. I don't know what happened about the car because I went on and did my thing. Honestly, even if the kid told his parents, knowing the way they ran that place (manager and his wife), they didn't say anything to the customer.

Decided to make good use of the moose pelt wine and haul the "new" quad somewhere on the back of ugly truck. Got it the same day as Arrow etc.

Massive fun. Oh, I used a 7.3idi to haul it and it's a Japanese Ford quad called a Honda, for those inclined to worry 'bout these things...

Just failed an opacity test myself after putting a new air filter in - gonna run some Stanadyne through mine and go back after a couple of tanks. I'd be curious to hear how yours does on a retest after the kleen...

Went from 40% to 4%. I cleaned the air filter and tightened up the boots (turbo) did a tranny fluid treatment on the injectors and had the tank pretty hot with diesel kleen.

I'll need to post pics, but I did manage to start my truck and get it down to @laserjock for the weekend. (It is nice being able to work in a heated shop with concrete floor).

Things were going at a steady pace until we got to the last injector... Let's just say Mike has a new tool in his tool box now. Thankfully he had a spare all thread coupler that fit the slide hammer and a tap to match the injector. Needed to use a pick to chunk out the carbon build up. We did not set a speed record but got the mechanical pump deleted, all of the hard lines deleted (my truck now has bling), Facet installed on a nice custom bracket, wiring completed and when I left half of the returns and lines installed. 10pm I got a text with the driver side completed and a video of it running. (Seriously Mike thanks again and you did not have to continue after my old ass needed to head home)

Project creep is starting. The wife is happy to see prior purchased parts (12/2017 for the injectors) getting installed and wants the core support replaced (purchased 2 years ago). "Well, I should do headlights and bushings and oh by the way my power steering pump seems to be leaking." Her reply was ok, plan the next phase of work with Mike. :)
