Man, those diesel RX glow plugs look funny right above the hex part. As for the plug on the FIPL, that probably needs a new lead.

Why is is sitting so high? Cuz it's sitting on a box mounted drawer. Also going out to my brother's farm.

As has been said many times before, it rides so much better with some weight in the back.

My neighbor gave me some junk aluminum doors & windows and other scrap (including some copper and brass) that he didn't feel like dealing with. I spent about an hour disassembling the aluminum frames, added my steel, copper & brass scrap to the pile in the back of my truck, and took it to the recycler. Got $69.55 :)

I finally got off my duff and changed the thermostat. I didn't quite finish. All I have left tomorrow is to hook up the power wires, install the one way valve that I got from Thewespaul, fill the radiator, and fire it up.

Today all I did to the truck was prime it for the ten millionth time. I've got a new fuel filter housing ordered that'll fix it, but in the mean time I get to torture the original starter some more LOL

What I don't get is why this small leak ****** it off so much, but the MASSIVE leak(s) it used to have did nothing. When I got my truck back from getting its new IP / injectors / returns, 14 of 16 o-rings were torn, the truck left a trail of diesel everywhere and you could see a waterfall of diesel pouring down. I ran it that way for over a month, daily driving and road tripping it, and not once did it stall or run rough. And yet, this near invisible fuel heater leak causes the truck to stall any time it's left sitting for an hour. IDI's are strange :dunno

If your one-way valve in the return line that goes to the filter head is working (or removed and plugged) a leak in the returns on the injectors might not cause the fuel to drain down from your filter. If you remove that fitting you can literally hear the air sucking in and the fuel draining down from your filter.

Obviously there is a return going to the IP as well, which in turn could allow air back in to the system through the injector pump itself (and the main fuel feed line). But I do not know if the IP acts as its own "one way valve"

The return fitting on the injection pump acts as a one way check valve, but those heater leaks will cause havoc, like a straw with a hole.

Update: I finished the thermostat job. I was in a hurry to get it finished and load up my four wheeler and sprayer so I could get my yard sprayed (remember, my garage is in another town 15 miles away from the house). Naturally, I didn't remember the one way valve until it was running.:dunno Oh well, I'll just have to do it another day.

It was yesterday, but I took mine to Kearney, Nebraska so I could go to Wal-Mart and Menards. It's a couple hours drive each way. I'm still amazed at the way that it can run 80-85 down the interstate with ease, even being N/A. I did enjoy leaving the ZF5 in 4th gear while getting on the on ramp at about 30 and running it up to 74 before shifting. It runs so much better since Thewespaul set the timing for me.:) Of course, I had an unplanned "adventure" on the way back home. U crossed the state line and took a back road shortcut to save time. The road was closed for some reason at the small town where I was supposed to turn south. Another mile farther west was straight north of the blacktop road that leads into the town where I live. I knew that I couldn't go through there since it basically is a private road through the largest hog farm in the area. Still, being too stubborn to turn back around and take the longer blacktop all the way home, I went another mile farther west to the next dirt road. I HATE taking dirt country roads that I'm not familiar with at night, but I decided to see if it went all the way through. It did, but "road" is entirely too generous of a word to describe it. It was rutted, rough, washed out, and about 7 miles of hell to drive. The fastest I drove was 45 and I was only doing about 20 over the roughest part of it. I did prove that I could still get home a new way. It was 10:30 when I finally made it home so I didn't post this last night.

Was yesterday had the truck towed to a shop to button up the gp harness a new gp controller alignment should have it back end of next week good news all it'll cost me is parts no labor the grey beard doing it is family to my ex who's father owned the truck before me. Next on the list will be transmission fluid changed, oil change new hood insulation plus new windshield then save for a project truck.

Say...what's that fittting fer? Looks rather interesting...elaborates can you?

Is that a "one-way check valve" for the fuel return....possibly?

Just a manifold for the return lines. Did not like the stock arrangement with turbo as the barb for the passenger side injector return is difficult to access. Also less of a conglomeration as there is no need for an extra tee for the injection pump, recommended plumbing route by Conestoga diesel. Not for use in California, material is 1215L, free machining steel with lead for lubricity. Hose barb and external thread on other end were performed on a lathe, CNC mill for the three 1/8 pipe threaded holes on the side.
