Mel rebuilt my IP about 7 years ago, actually the very first "Baby Moose" (I named it).
Been noticing the valley pan is damp/wet with fuel (disgusted with that fuel smell)
Hoping it's the Olive in the fuel hard line that runs from the filter to the center of the IP.

Where do I purchase the the Olives for that filter to IP-hardline?
My International dealer has been out of business for many years and my local For dealer doesn't have them.

Also...I believe there is an o-ring inside the IP that can weep too...hoping it's not that, don't really want to pull the IP for that stinking inner O-ring!
Thanks for any feedback, Ray

Fold paper towels about 8 layers thick, then shove them under the IP all the way back. Drive for a short distance and check where the wet spot is.
This will narrow it down quite well.

You don't have to remove pump to change the O-ring.
I have the stuff you need if you can't get it closer.

What "stuff" is needed?
"can't get it closer"???

What all must come-off to change that O-ring...if it's that?
Thanks!

Will do asap (in a few days)...fingers crossed it's the Olive on the hard fuel line.

Sometimes, if it's leaking somewhat badly, you can run the engine and look at the underneath of the IP using an inspection mirror and a light. You can see it drip unless it's a really slow drip.

That's exactly what I did years ago when mine. The common wisdom then was if it was leaking out of the oring then internal tolerances were hosed and replacing the oring wouldn't fix it, just bandaid it. So eventually I got a rebuilt unit from Pensacola Diesel but it was awful.
Sent it back twice before I got a decent unit...if you have to get your IP rebuilt, do it right. Contact Russ @typ4 and send it to him(he rebuilt the pump I'm running now). Justin at Idiperformance.com does great work but has like a month wait time right now, according to members here. BTW Russ's prices are better and turns around a pump in a business week.
I dunno if @Thewespaul does IP rebuilds?
@Agnem also does IP rebuilds and has an excellent rep.

As mentioned in my first post...Mel rebuilt my IP about 8 years ago and with it now having 40,000 + - miles on the IP rebuild.
I would hope the IP isn't in need of another rebuild so soon, heck the original IP went over 22 years and had about 170,000 miles on it. The engine ran great but the IP was weeping fuel onto the valley pan to the point I couldn't stand the smell.

Yep I rebuild pumps and injectors, but I doubt you need a rebuild with only 40k. More than likely your fuel inlet fitting is leaking. What Russ was saying is he can set you up with the olive seals for those fittings if you can’t source them locally. I would pm him and get them on the way, he’s a busy guy.

Sorry, I forgot yours was rebuilt by Mel. In 8 years it's not uncommon to put 150k on a vehicle so I guess I wasnt thinking your mileage was so low, the 40k wasnt in that post.
Agreed it should be less than half of its life span at 40k.
