The camshaft gear with 2 threaded holes is considered unbalanced.

New cam gears are around 500 bucks. Used is around 50 bucks....





Really do not remember what they cost cause it was 10 years ago when I purchased mine. Had several of them too but all gone now. I do have 2 new in Ford box the complete cam, gear and all the thrust plates and pump eccentric. No Idea what I will do with them either but I have them just the same.. Spare parts ya know...

Is there a difference with the 6.9 gear? Will it be better to use a 7.3 gear? Thanks . i just havent heard of this till now. .

The newer 7.3 style gear will get rid of that intermittent vibration when engine is idling.
Gary, just checked on eBay for camshafts. You can buy a brand new OEM cam with balanced gear assembly for less than $200. Don't think a new gear alone is worth anywhere near $500. I have seen used ones go in between $20-$40.....just can't find one now when I need one :/.

Was teasing bout the 500 buck cam gear..... Thought everyone knew this. And yes, complete cams with ALL the thrust and parts assembled ready to go are cheap at 200 bucks on ebay. They are new old stock Ford or International parts. Come in a Ford box too.

My ladder is 5 damn feet to short...I can stand on top of ladder and place **** just on edge...lol need Brians big 12 footer to make it work.

I know just placed gears up there too....crap.

Well as I am nearly done sorting cleaning...there will be a pile set aside for up delivery...and a ceiling fan instqll so ladder soon and gears be coming!
