umm, this is a personal decision.

a recap of this post is as follows.

youre too cheap to buy a bumper.
you want to use a stock bumper
you dont want a reciever mounted winch.
you have been told how a winch should be placed.

i think its time for you to break out some tubing, cutting tool, and a welder.

if you have no fabrication skills,
you have 2 options.

buy the expensive bumper.
or dont run a winch.....

its just a winch, this is easily fabbed up nicely in a few hours.

this post reminds me of an argument me and the woman have on a daily basis.

ME, "what do you want for dinner woman"
HER, "food"
ME, "what kind of food?"
her" the kind you eat"

Been there too. It's a bit worse for me.

Do you want burgers or chicken?
Burgers sound good to me.
Well, I'm making chicken and rice.

Makes me feel like I just failed a pop quiz. My answer for the last few years has been a standard "whatever" to almost any question and she can't figure out why.

Not entirely, if the guy has a friend with the requisite fab skills, maybe said friend could be plied with liquid libations in payment for the work. :dunno :rotflmao :sly
