Just noticed the last few days when I make a sharp turn. I get a knocking from the front left side of the truck that is proportional to the speed. Its not very loud and I would guess it knocks once per tire rotation.

It goes away randomly and comes back when you tuns sometimes.

I also noticed when I brake it shuts up tell I let off

Nope, its my grandmas old ranch truck, I just got it so I've been slowly going through it inspecting everything and doing maintenance (unstick parking brake, highbeams, oil change, coolant change {yes have scas}, Lucas fuel additive, air filter, new belts)

Still on the list as money becomes available to spend-

Injectors and pump
Rear tires
Fuel filter
Pyrometer (for tuning)
Digital Coolant temp meter (because I like data)
Bypass coolant filter
Remove AC system

I need to get some shop manuals and read up on the drive train so I can inspect and service it, looking at ujoints and diff fluid.

Currently the van is in the shop so the truck is my daily driver
How dangerous is the knock?

Will need to take a 200 mi trip over the mountains for the 4th

Will the need replaced or just cleaned out and repacked?

I'd test for play in the tire and see what you get. Take the vehicle weight off that tire and try to wiggle it left to right, up and down, give it a few spins and listen for rumbly sounds. It should be silent and have no play up and down or left and right. Of you get movement, or hear a rumble, its time to take a look at the wheel bearings. What you find in there will answer the question of what needs to be done. Usually its just a cleaning and repack. You will need a special socket to remove the nuts and retorquing them properly is very important.

If it was me, I would make sure thats squared away before any long trips.

Im supposed to leave on the trip in 10 hours, upon inspection i cant tell if the bearings are worn because the upper ball joints have a LOT of play in them.

can i just tighten them down or do they need to be replaced?

do i get the $15 special from knects or do i need to get a specific brand?

ill be monitoring this thread all day so quick responses would be appreciated

Did you pick up a hub nut tool?
I would clean and repack the wheel bearings while in there.
Mobil 1 synthetic is some good stuff.
