Yeah i don't really feel like dumping a ton of money into this engine, there's a few things I've found inside that I'm not super happy about. I have a parts engine laying around that seems to have rust in one of the cylinders so I'll crack that open and see how bad it is, might be able to get away with running that block. 7.3idis are sort of a rarity around these parts, however there is a 6.9. The 6.9 would just be a straight swap right?

These are in the parts engine, do any of these look beyond saving to you guys? I can't feel any of the rust running my fingers over it, it cranks over smooth. From what I can tell, seems like it should be good with a hone

Of course the first picture looks worse. If you can hone that out in all of the cylinders, I think you'll be fine to run it for quite a while.

Yeah that first picture concerns me a little, thinking it might be cavitation but I didn't see any holes and can't feel anything there, think it'd be alright to hit it with some like 3000 grit sandpaper just to get a better idea of what they actually look like?

Sure. There's no problems with that. A hone has a much coarser grit than that.
