So tonight I was about to hook my trans back up to the engine. I filled the converter and when I was about to install it something caught my eye that just did not look right. When I put the light on it, I found this split seal has a rolled up, smash feature on it. I’m quite sure that’s not good and considering I waited three weeks for this thing to be overhaul from one end to the other by my trans guy (who I’ve trusted for 20 years) I’m really irritated.

What is this seal called and what is it’s purpose?

So livid right now, i wish I would have just stuck with the ZF5

Thank you

I may be completely wrong here. I also am not up on the E4ODs. I'm guessing that it might have something to do with the torque convertor lock up since I don't remember seeing something similar on non lockup transmissions.

Wonderful. I’ll be calling my trans guy first thing tomorrow morning.
Anyone can make a mistake, but it just seems to never end anymore
