what do you guy's think of 4:10's

ok i got a 1988 f-250 wit a na7.3 and a 5spd. it has 3:55's in it but the d60 i am getting for the front has 410"s, so i have to build a rear. either i can put 3:55's in the front rear or put 4:10s in the rear rear. how do you guy's think 4:10's will work, what will this thing top out at. i want to be able to run at least 70-75 without it screaming like a nut's. also i plan on running a 35" tire. thanks

I would keep the 4.10s with the 5 speed and 35 inch tires.

This gearing calculator lets you look at two gearing options side by side:

You could put the stock gearing and tire size in to compare.

I want to run 37's on my '57. Using this gearing calculator I figure it will work ok with 4.10's, but 4.56s would put it closer to stock. (I am using a GV overdrive) I will probably use 4.10s because of $$$

so if i read that chart rite i should have a top end of 109mph rite? not tat it will have enough balls to run more than 80ish.. lol

That's why I'm contemplating 4.56s for mine.

I'm just shooting for 2000 rpm at 70 ish...

so realy it would be a slug if i kept the 3:55's. i realy never go on the highway, highway use will be rare for this truck so i'm better off with the 4:10's.. thanks man

I would go with 4:10's. Number one reason is to keep strain off of the drivetrain. The trans, t-case, yokes, axles and such will thank you when the going gets tough. Your 35" tires are going to put you roughly where a 3:55/stock tired truck would be anyway. Good luck

I have 4:10s and 35s on my truck, it's n/a and I've gotta tell you it's great for towing. You won't be "cruising at 80 mph": the sweet spot for mileage (and sanity) in my truck is about 62 on the speedometer.

Stick with the 4:10s if you aren't going to do any long commuting, you will love it when you put a trailer/load behind it.

Fuel mileage is all about what speed you drive at. The difference between 65ish and 75ish is probably close to 50%
