You try to give people deals and stuff then they go and try reap what they didnt sow. We did the same thing for a guy when we made him a good deal on our bronco II. Was gonna make over 400 bucks off of what we sold it for. I'd be mad if somethin happened to me especially if I was helpin someone out.

don't feel bad. I just went through the same with a car I sold.
Listed it at $1500, bottomed at $1200. guy puts a set of seatcovers on it and lists it at $1700.

I had it for sale for 2300 and he told me it was to much so we worked out a deal. it just aggravates me he goes and sells it trying to make money on it, and not really doing anything to it.

Do the tag team "Good Buyer / Bad Buyer" thing to him. Call him up and tell him it's too much and offer him $2100. Then send a friend over wearing greasy clothes to take it for a loooong test drive, have lunch in it like an hour or so, then bring it back to the guy with an offer of say $1700 saying it's just not worth that much. Then you call him back and see if he'll be willing to sell it for $2100. When he says maybe yes after thinking it over, offer him $700 a week payments.

Thats annoying, but at least it's still in good shape. I sold a set of nasty wheels on CL for $40 because they needed to be rechromed and no one would mount tires on them. The guy had them on CL the next week for $80 neglecting to mention they couldn't be used as-is.

I sold my 65 New Yorker 2dr to a guy last fall for $400 with a buildable 383 and the original big block trans in the car. It is now on Craigslist for $600 without engine/trans and sitting on some junk 14" barely hold air rollers for tires. At least he doesn't have it listed to part out.......yet.

I did just that with a marine radio. Bought it for $7.00 at a garage sale and sold it for $80.00 on Ebay. Did the same thing with Bell Labs Princess Telephones as well.

I got a nephew that is doing that - he is buying things off CL and then in a week or so putting them back up for sale. Sometimes he has to fix something other times not. That is how he is making his living now days... Can't fault a guy for making money.

It is what I do for a living, buy low and sell high. I even remember when you were selling our truck I considered buying it myself cause I knew I could make some money on it.

What I won't do when buying a truck is cut the truck down, pick it apart, point out what is wrong with it and say why it is not worth what you are asking and low ball an offer. However for the most part if I am making a trip to look at a truck I know it is cheap enough that I will probably buy it, so I will check it out, usually tell the seller it is "yea it is a good truck, I like it" and make an offer,.no BS,...

I think the beef is with guys who make like they're gonna keep it and do something with it so you give them a deal. THEN, you find that they are just flipping it for profit. Who knows, the guys situation may have changed, but it still feels like you get scammed sometimes.

sounds like how I've always worked with buying vehicles, however, if you are asking 2000 for a vehicle I only think is worth 1300, I may call you up still and ask if you'd consider taking that, but I'm not gonna show up, drive it around, and then say I've only got 1300 for you, that kinda crap's just not right
