Hello Russ.... My first thoughts on your cardboard "covers" was..... But then I got to thinking about what you posted and I felt like this....:flipa;Pissed:fight::moon: But then I felt like this....:Whatever:LOL But now I'm ok with the cardboard....:D Actually Russ my cardboard backing during my viedos is for content. I did not want any background items confusing the pics. What you take a pic of needs to stand out from the background... Me hide something.... Never.... But I do like to "see" whats in the backgrounds of the pics posted up here....

THis is what happens to a perfect turbo when you dont clean the new oil passage upon install. I think all parties involved learned a valuable lesson on this one.
This was Fordguy100,s unit.

Thanks Russ, I was going to ask you to put up pics.

Clean out the oil galleys! Otherwise you will find yourself making 1.5psi at WOT LOL

Holy crap! :( So you're saying the snapped one is from the 093 kit? :( A sad end for such a nice turbo.
On the other one, the one you say is melted, I don't know if there's honestly any way you can melt one of those exhaust wheels. Every turbo exhaust wheel I know of is made of inconel stainless and that stuff takes ALLOT of heat before it starts to move or puddle. I personally have had the exhaust in my turbo eclipse peg my pyro at over 1600* and that turbo still runs and looks great. NOTE: Don't misunderstand what I said there. Our diesel engines are NOT made to withstand 1600* EGT. Every engine is different.

i honestly dont think gas exhaust carries as much heat as diesel. also, there is a larger volume of diesel exhaust than gas. even at start-up on my 6.9, the exhaust commin out the bellow tube is pretty damn hot. every gasser ive had, at start-up, its barely above ambient.

yep
And it is a royal pain.
ok....where is the sweet spot for the max psi? and how much increase on the drive pressure?
i don't know the drive psi on the stocker or aftermarket 093, but I do know the sweet spot for the psi is 8-9lbs.
and let's say I send up one of my aftermarket 093's what's the cost going to be for opening up the cold side housing to accept the larger wheel?

Well, if it's gonna cost the same, you might as well go down in glory. Mine dosen't seem so bad as those, but might as well be per dollar I suppose, except my comp/turbine housings are good.

The last picture is of where the ground wire is supposed to be connected on this truck I pulled the engine on yesterday.

Russ, did you take pictures of my 093? I don't think I have any.

i'm not real familiar with this stuff. what is wrong here? i assume the bearings shouldn't be that color? is there something else i'm not seeing?

Thanks Russ, great photos, why the hell didn't u call us for dinner? Like come on...that looks like a fine Bird there!...

On a side note, whats available to "hop" up an 088 Turbo like the one coming my way shortly? I personally would like a 093 for sooner boost...but oh well mash the go pedal and ***...WOT boost good too I suppose....so ya what can I do to make it spool quicker with max boost...as it stand I got 3 IDI's complete to run/blow up...before I have to stop and gain some sort of respectable sanity for the fourth engine.

I'ld rather though just be happy with #1 and build the stock turbo long block into something special:sly studded, sleeved, balanced / blue printed, cam, ported/polished heads and manifolds etc ya'll know where what its going to be...bogging and rock crawler, snow wheeler...though not too good in snow or mud sinking front end due to 1200lb engine...:rotflmao:rotflmao
