Just got F350 back from mechanic , no change ,he couldn't get truck to "replicate the problem"?????????????
\This is what is going on. When engine warms up or when I'm hauling a load the filter light comes on I notice a loss of power , changed filter , took it to mechanic cannot find what's going on..
Was going to change mechanical fuel pump, but the ford dealership's part department couldn't find "olives" for fuel line.
It acts if it is vapor locking, for lack of better words for situation, when it happens, just started all the sudden thought it was bad fuel , not so simple ...
HELP ANY THOUGHTS WHAT IS GOING ON ?
DOES ANYONE HAVE PART # FOR SAID "OLIVES" ??

Your filter light is basically just a fuel pressure sender. When the fuel pressure gets too low, the light comes on.

When you are under load, your injector pump is demanding all the fuel it can get, but your lift pump is not keeping up with demand.

Olives are easy to come by. My our local parts store will have a fuel injection ump install kit. It comes with the olives and some bolts and o-rings. The olives are the seals for the hard lines. They compress between the nut and the hard line to seal the line and give it a little wiggle so the hard one won't geta stress fracture.

I would bet your lift pump is on its way out, or one of the soft lines feeding the lift pump from the tanks has internally failed and collapsed inside itself. Also, look over all the lines going to the lift pu,p and make sure there isn't a kink.

You can also get the olives from a couple good members on here. Www.conestogadiesel.com is one of them. His name is Agnem on here, or you can pm another member named typ4 on here.

Pressure gauge on the a schrader valve on the filter housing while running should give you some indication while running. If it doesn't, may not hurt to pick up a lift pump and give that a try. It's a fairly cheap part. Outside of that I'd imagine is has to be due to air intrusion some where.

Good idea, still need part # for "olives" as I have said lift pump but I'm hesitant to disconnect fuel lines.......
also is it a fact that the new lift pump arm may look different than OME ?????
thank you for input..

Yes, lift pump *might* look different.

See those rubber things that look like cut off fuel line? Those are the olives.

There is only one down at the lift pump, and another at the top of the fuel filter head. Then a couple more between the filter head and IP.

Let me make a suggestion too. Do not buy an airtex branded lift pump. It has been proven they are not reliable at all.

Welcome to the forum....

Olives.... They are located at both ends of the steel line from the filter outlet to the injection pump inlet. That's the 5/16 size. That fitting at the fuel filter inlet from the lift pump has ONLY one olive up there. And nothing at the bottom. The olive size for that is 3/8.. Not any good fuel injection repair shop will have these for you. The injection hard line going from the pump to each injector DO NOT HAVE OLIVES. They are a special flared fitting and really thick walled tubing too. Replace any line that breaks. Do not think you can repair it because they are a special size line.
My guess is the suction from the tanks has some crap plugging it like maybe some in the tank switching valve or the lift pump has started telling you its time to replace it.

Thanks Gary.

It has been so long since I have had the mechanical lift pump I misspoke.

So, there is no olives at the lift pump. That is why the injector pump kits only come with 3!

I would bet you Gary, aka Icanfixall, who posted above, could put you in touch with some people in the LA area that would guide you right.

There are several California mambers on here too. Many of them are further up north in the Bay Area.
