Hey guys hope everyone is having a good week. I got a new problem and question with my truck. Today I was heading to work and I put my turn signal on and it lights up but does not blink. It just stays on solid. This is happening with both the left and right turn signal. I have to manually flip it back and forth to get a turn signal effect haha. Does anyone know what this could be? I would like to get it fixed soon because it is a safety hazard. Thanks in advance guys!

Well I may have answered my own question. Maybe it is the turn signal flasher fuse. Never knew there was a fuse for that lol. Could that be blown?

Well I can suggest eliminate the standard issues....signal controller/flasher and fuses and bulbs, then report back with findings for further ideas...

another thing is make sure the hazard flasher knob is not engaged. 80-91 trucks are affected by the hazard flasher, 92-97 trucks aren't
if you do need a flasher, get an electronic one. not cheap but can handle truck and trailer lights.

You can usually switch the hazard flasher with the signal flasher to test your flasher. Then forget to replace the bad one until you need it.

If your dash indicator is on, the bulb at the front and rear should also be on. Please don't ignore flasher issues as your brake light wires run through you're ts switch and you could not have brake lights.

Yes my turn signal indicator just stays on in the cab when I switch the left or right turn signal. I got out to check the lights and they are also just lit and no flashing.

Sounds like a flasher. It us just a bimetalic strip that gets hot groom the power drawn NY the bulbs and then opens the circuit.

Pretty sure you have 2 in there. Switch them.

Btw, manually making them flash with the ts switch doesn't work if your brakes are lit

I'm going to save you the grief in wondering where the 2nd flasher was put at in the bricky(87-91) bodystyle trucks. it's under the dash just right above the passenger side kickpanel. WTH WAS FORD THINKING? that is not a very initutive place to look for things especially flashers.

That's no joke! But they are usually noisy enough that you can just turn the flashers on and find it.

I just checked to see if my hazard lights work and they do. Towcat, are you saying the round fuse that is under steering wheel doesn't need to be replaced? And that there is another one under passenger dash somewhere?

The one under the passenger dash is for the emergency flashers. The one in the fuse box is for the turn signals. You can put the emergency flasher in the turn signal spot to see if that is the problem. If doing that makes the turn signals work then you have found the problem. If not, you know to keep looking.
