I've got a new fuel pump on it, and purged all air from the system. It's turning over plenty fast but won't fire. I even gave it a small shot of ether, but all that did was make it turn over even faster for a second or two. Any ideas here?

Hmmm. It's an electric fuel pump that was replaced because the other one died. I have not replaced the lift pump, but it is not plumbed in to the system either. I will keep tinkering with it I suppose. I have not touched the IP. I have not checked fuel pressure either. Should I get a fairly decent spray out of the schrader valve on the filter assembly? I only get a slight trickle now.

Trucks running again. It took a whole lot of cranking, but she lit off. I guess I will see what tomorrow brings.

i take it you swapped from the mechanical lift pump to an electric,

did you check the fuel filter to make sure it wasn't low on fuel? I have a feeling the fuel drained out and dried out... unless you saw fuel pumping out of the injector lines

and

was the pump a self-priming pump?

The lift pump has not been hooked up as long as I have owned it (8 months). The filter was basically brand new and prefilled with diesel kleen and atf. Fuel was coming out of the injector lines when cracked. However now I can't get the injector line to seal back up tight again. It is shooiting a tiny stream from where the nut meets the injector. Any ideas here? I have tightened the nut down as much as I can. I suppose I will just hope it stops on its own. LOL

In order to get it to stop completely, I think you're going to need to take the line off, clean it well and reassemble. Then it should stop leaking.

That sounds like a reasonable approach. I also need to work on my return lines some more. One return line is leaking pretty bad, but more importantly one (of the two) injectors I replaced the orings on is still leaking. I didn't feel the cap snap down, so I think that is the problem and it just needs some more attention. Hmmm, now that I think about it, that is most likely part of the hard starting.

Hurry up warm weather, I've got things I need to do outside!!
