Ok I found a 7.3psd standard transmission for cheap cheap still works. Will it fit my 7.3idi or no way I picked up a bbf one 6 months back just hoping it could be easier with a psd?

Is it the one at the conway upullit?

Yes, it will work great! I have one from a 96 stroke in my truck.

Get the clutch pedal set, crossmember, etc....

Buy a clutch set for a 93 non turbo idi and you will be golden,(see what I did there, rusty gold?)

If you don't buy it, I am going to.

The 460 ZF you have would be a ton easier.

You just need to redrill a few holes to make it work. If you have the starter mounting plate off the back of the block it makes a good template too.

If it's a zf6 I'm not sure but the powerstoke zf5 is the same as the idi zf5

It would be nice if they like the cummins pattern for all motors and have different adapters.

I know cummins can fit ford chevy and sae#2 if you have the adapter plate.

Coolest thing would be to have a 6 speed in an idi.

The 6 speeds behind the Powestrokes get some bad press, supposedly similar low gear and final drive ratio's as the ZF5s but not as durable.

Way back when, Russ posted exactly how to properly drill a 460 ZF5 to mate it to your IDI, it might still be out there.

Yeah that's what I'll do. The 6 speed I like is the nv5600 just as long it's cool it don't eat synchronizes. The one on my job as cooling towers at the pto.

I have always wondered if I could get a new pto cover that increased capacity and had a heat sink in it. Might look in to that

They have those for the zf's.
I looked awhile back. Of course I can't find the website now.
