Oh it's definitely worth buying a meter. The problem can be finding a meter to buy. They don't make em' anymore, and ebay is about the only way to get one, short of somebody here letting go of one.

i came accross one when i was looking for a tach. it said it was good for any idi, but i dunno if it would work for these engines. i googled diesel tach and it came up cause it has a built in digital tach. i can't remember the name of the company though.
