I have a 94 7.3 with the stock turbo set up and I was wanting to install a intercooler but I can't seem to find how to remove the intake hat from the turbo and if there are any seals that need to be replaced when the intake hat is turned

As far as I know...you have to loosen mounting bolts for turbo and maybe up pipes.

Square O ring under snail aka hershey kiss....and one inside wbere turbo goes into it.

****** to do....

Good luck.

Well you're going to have to "clock" the turbo anyway. You should probably buy a replacement housing oring as they can tear when you do it. I had to loosen both pedestal bolts and the 4 up pipe bolts to get mine off. You can also only rotate it about 90 degrees before the snail hits the compressor housing. There is large oring that sits beneath the snail, i remove them and use red RTV, which i let setup for 1 hour then tighten and let dry for 24hr. Or you can install an R&D intake manifold. Modifying the snail really isnt that great of an option

im able just to loosen the 2 pedestal bolts to the manifold.
remove the center bolt.
then it should come off the lip of the intake.
I did not clock the turbo when I did mine.
I removed the inner o-ring that seals to the turbo.
welded a piece of 2" pipe to the aluminum.
I used a carburetor gasket. from the carb to the air cleaner on a oldschool gasser.
you can get these at a decent auto store.
o-rings work well too.
there are "nubs" on the stock intake snail aka Hershey kiss.
they needed to be cut off.
then I clocked the snail away from the turbo.
Contact @typ4 he may have one ready to go.
And he hates it when people modify hard to find stock parts :D

I had trouble getting my intake hat off, but I'd try what IDIOT said, he's had more turbos off than anyone probably. Certainly more timing covers :) With a larger turbo you can see how close the snail is to the compressor housing
