I saw this event on FB yesterday and thought it would be a nice focus for a GTG. We can have our own deal before or after this "cruise". If nothing else, this would make an incentive to shake the cobwebs off your rig and take it for a run. Here's the event.....http://lanevictory.org/ There's three cruise dates this year, so we will need a consensus for which date. The cruise is $135 per person and it goes out to the Catalina Islands and back. I'm going to make this a family event but am willing to coordinate a OB GTG if there is sufficient interest.
post up! ;Sweet

I'm in ;Sweet

My first choice would be August 23rd, although I could also do July 26th. With how busy work gets in September, 9-27 probably isn't an option for me.

I did the Lane Victory cruise in 2003 with my grandfather and a few other family members, and it's really worth the time. The ship basically cruises out to Catalina and back, going along the Avalon waterfront at the far end of the trip, and you get buzzed by a group of vintage aircraft at one point in the cruise. And, no, WWII-era costumes aren't required :D

BTW, for anyone interested and especially for those who are making a trip out of it...the U.S.S. Iowa is berthed not too far from the Lane Victory, and is absolutely worth the time ;Sweet (probably best to do the Iowa on a different day, though)...

Was there anyone that was interested in doing this GTG? I see enough members here from SoCal that I don't see why we couldn't make it happen.

Because its only about 35 miles from my home I may do this. Really have no particular day in mind. Porbably end up seasick but thats to be expected. I sure would like to see the engine room...

I toured the Lane Victory when they started restoring it many years ago.

I'd probably give it a go.
