Well folks on July 4th I lost the use of legs below the knee. I purchased some cheap hand controls off of Amazon for my Volvo XC60 but these glorified sticks clamps won’t be enough for the bullnose. So he’s the fun for all you fellas like me that craft and make what we need rather than buy it (specially when companies think they can make a big buck on those who are in need like medical insurance companies) so I want to collaborate on making reliable hand controls for my bullnose and find a way to make them cheap and easy then give away the plans to anyone and everyone for adaptation. Whoever wants to chime in please do so. I have welders, plasma cutter, mill and lathe and a 3d printer but I want to try and do this with store bought materials so anyone can do it. I attached a pic of the sticks I use for my Volvo and what I want to do for myself and everyone.

That's awesome, my wife was born with only one leg(no right leg). She drives with her left foot. She used to wear a prosthetic, but they suck and she started using crutches about 13yrs ago. Now she has some nice forearm crutches that she goes around on and I got her a 4 wheeler to ride around on our place here.

Many years ago I drove a van from my parents house to some ladies house(10-12 miles) and it had hand controls. I remember studying them and thinking that they were pretty simple. The lever was to the right of the steering wheel, you pushed down to accelerate and Forward to stop.

I'm all about it. I even made a left hand throttle for my wife's 4 wheeler because her right hand isn't as strong as her left.

Well dang, sorry to hear that.
In a fwiw kinda way.
45+ years ago my buddies father was in a chair.
He drove a 66 mustang, it had the apparatus handed right side, it pulled back (think bellcrank) to activeat a pushrod to the brakes and it had a motorcycle style twist throttle.
Hope this sparks something.

One of the vets from wheelers for the wounded was gifted a setup that mounted on the cage of his cj7, it would swing out and attach to his chair, houst him to the door and once he was in, deposit the chain in back. I never got to see it work unfortunately....

I love that it was a CJ7 instead of one of the new technological marvels with AC that they call Jeeps!

Hey! You spelled "marvels" wrong! Chrysler sure went away from the original appeal of the Jeep. I still feel that if they offered a modern version of the CJs, two doors, small engine, 5 speed, not a lot of other frills, plus a cheap price, they would sell A LOT of them.

Mahindra does, but I don't think you can drive them on the road. I'm utterly impressed with the Mahindra roxor, you can get it with a diesel and it's basically a CJ 2A made by an Indian company that made Willy's Jeeps in the 40s.

I also thought about a pipe insode of about pip with a relief cut so the inner pipe could move forward by itself but then when you pull back it rest on the outer pipe relief cut and can actuate the outer pipe and assembly for the other pedal

Since our trucks use a cable to the IP, or even the throttle body/carburetor, and they have cruise control, you might disassemble the cruise control and bring the cable into the cab to be attached to a thumb throttle or twist throttle that is on a handle that is dedicated to the brake. With a setup like that if a person had one leg, they could throttle and brake with one hand steer with the other, operate a clutch and train a German shepherd to shift gears.

Stay with it, friend, this is cool!
