Well I am having a terrible time finding the right speedometer gear for my BorgWarner 1345. I have a 1356 transfer case, speedo gears for those are plentiful, and parts for those are much more common. What are the differences in drop angle, and case length? Can I take the 1345 off my truck and put the 1356 on my truck? The 1345 is on my 1986 F250 Diesel, and the 1356 is from a 1989 F150 300 I6. Is it strong enough to handle the torque from my weakling IDI?

Yes it's strong enough. They also came out behind IDIs and 460s. Yours may be different, but from what I've seen, the 1356 uses a slip yoke while the 1345 uses a bolt on yoke, both on the rear output. I don't know about length differences, but I'd be grabbing a tape measure if it was me.

Okay. Yes 1345 is fixed **** where 1356 is in fact slip yoke. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn’t like a light duty version or something.

Not that I'm aware of. From my research, the 1345 was even used in Rangers. All the same thing.
