Yesterday I ran about 200 miles with the new deep Mag-hitec trans pan that holds an extra 2 gallons of oil. I changed the temp pickup from the drivers side of the case to the rear of the pan. They have a location for that which is really neat. My Isspro electric gage seemed to not be recording a temp other that 140 degrees. So I shot it with my laser temp gage and it showed 147 degrees after freeway driving around 80 mph for about 40 minutes. Most of that time I saw around 250 to 350 degrees on the pyro because of the 4 inch straight pipe exhaust I just had installed. Motor coolant was around 190 to about 198 degrees also. So things seem to be running fine....;Sweet :D I also found the air pressure in all my tires was around 40 lbs. I thought something was dragging just a bit so now they are 65 lbs but next week I'm hauling 3 horses about 100 miles to a show so they will be upped to 75 lbs. They are "E" rated tires. Maybe next month I will be looking for some pipes for my new $240.00 Hypermax intercooler I bought last year. I kinda wondering how the Banks sidewinder turbo will match up with the Hypermax intercooler lines... I'll probably need an intake hat or as Banks calls it the pressure chamber.... P.S... The Isspro oil pressure electrical gage still shows upwards of 65 to 75 lbs running ans sometimes way past 80 lbs... Crappy gage.... can hardly wait till Isspro starts selling the new gages without the amplifiers. Typ4 said they were just waiting for the contract to run out with the India company thats building these gages now... So Russ... When will this be happening??? Members need to know... Got money to burn and miles to turn.....:D

I'm glad that tranny pan is working good for you ;Sweet. Where is your EGT probe, cause those temps seem ridicously low, I mean my truck will only be that low idleing.

So many questions... The pyro probe is in the Banks sidewinder housing just before the hot side of the turbo. Thats where Banks felt it would serve the best. I have the E4OD built by Brians Truck Shop (BTS for short). Warranty is any horsepower... Any torque... No questions asked... They just fix it. Travis (Argve) said it best. When it shifts and locks up hold on because your on your way. Its true, that trans shifts like a turbo 400 with a shift kit. The pyro temps were around 550 degrees where now they are around 300 degrees with the new 4 inch straight pipe exhaust. I didn't think they would drop that low though. I'm curious about the trans outlet temp also. I'm wondering why we don't just check the temps there because the fluid is dropping down into the pan after it has seen all the moving parts and picked up the heat. Sure, after the torque converter it goes directly to the cooler and then back into the rear of the trans to lube the rear bushing and some bearings, then it drops into the pan also. So maybe its best to check it on the torque converter outlet line going to the cooler. Thats how the motor coolant is checked. My oil temp sender is located in the oil pan so I know what the motor oil temp is before it goes thru the oil cooler. Just something I wanted to know about. It runs around 200 degrees all the time. Before the Mag-hitec pan I was seeing trans temp up around 150 to 160 degrees just cruising the freeways ans around town so its not that big of a change. Yes, the pyro is kinds low and just driving around town its really low too. I usually don't have to wait when I park it for the temps to get below 300 degrees but I still idle it for a minute or two just for giggles. I like hearing the motor sound of horsepower being made...... Music to my ears...:D

Yes... A moose pump is on the horizon thats a givven. For now I'll run it and maybe turn it up some more. I also need to state that the timing is set at 6.6 instead of the 8.5 like most of us want. The shop that did the timing told me AFTER it was done that its set at 6.6 and anything between 6.6 and 8,5 is factory so no... We wont be changing it because you want it at 8.5. Gees.... I so need my own Snapon timing setup..... Damn the money... I want it and I'll have it... Its far better to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission to buy it....;p

My trans temp sender is in the cooler line so I know how hot the fluid really is. Its all personal preference on where its at, but in the pan will be your coolest reading.

Ironman, why do you feel the pan would be the coolest location? All the fluid drips off the hot parts into the pan other than what goes directly to the cooler from the torque converter. That front line is directly from the torque converter.

The pan has the coolest fluid due to the air moving over the pan cooling it, also there is a good amount of fluid from the cooler being returned there. The TC makes heat from the slippage so that fluid is sent right out to the cooler. This is the hottest point in the trans. I was told this by my transmission shop when we were talking about temp gauges/filters/coolers. On all my other cars and trucks it is where I have always put the sender. Like I said, Its really where YOU want to put it.

I had my sending unit in the line out to the coolers, but pulling I started seeing 325+ and it freaked me out greatly. Once I moved it after the coolers, I rearely see 200 pulling the TT.

WOW thats hot! I've never seen temps that high. I'm thinkin like 220-230 pullin the 5'ver, but its been so long since I've drove the truck its hard to remember.

A C-6 converter will show more heat than an E4OD will right off the torque converter.
