Hi there, I was told about some info for the stock 6.9 air cleaner (soup bowl mod) on here, but I cant find it, so any info on what it does when its done and what the purpose of the the bowl on the bottom of the lid is?
simple nuff....take a cut wheel or what have you for tools, cut the bowl off and grind/sand sharp edges down.
Now that you have a second lid, you can do one and play with it and see if it really does make a diff, then you can work on a nice cowl induction setup!
My pickup had that throat housing and not the soup bowl. I cut out that housing to make the inlet hole bigger....which was not fun....but anyways it's non restrictive now and I also removed that air deflector plate in there. I did see an improvement in throttle response and power pretty much stayed the same that I could tell. In my opinion, little improvements like this just help the engine breathe better.
