serp vacuum delete?

has anyone done a vacuum delete on their serp set up?
don't wanna just pull it off and get a smaller belt.
im sure I could make something, but im curious
anything out there?

I haven't done it myself, but I'm definitely thinking about it for my '93 once I get hydroboost brakes installed.

Why not just remove the pump? Use a slightly smaller belt or shim the AC compressor 1/2" out to make up some clearance...

don't want that top flapping.
don't want to have to fish for a specialty belt.
the rear casting where the cam for the pump is also acts like a rear bearing.
ill most likely make one up.
ive never seen something like that.
and im always finding new ways to clean up the engine compartment

I think you are wanting to retain the factory belt length? I would just make a plate to bolt to the three holes that the vacuum pump attaches to and bolt a idler pulley in its place

Well I am almost there! Put hydroboost on last spring, and recently installed the PSD electric vacuum pump. I plan on removing the mechanical pump and installing a shorter belt 1080K6. I got that part number from an old post here or somewhere else on the internets...

yea that's a good write up. but I don't want to fight with the belt.
and I also have concerns of the belt flapping all over the place.

was hoping something came to the market light since that post.
may end up doing the idler deal.

You can run the same length belt and no vacuum pump pulley. When I installed my serpentine belt system and drove to Bowling Green for the 2009 rally I kept loosing the cruise control during the trip. Got there and when EVERYONE was looking under the hood Travis asked how the vacuum was working....Well he pointed out I had the belt running on TOP of the pulley. It barley touched. I sure felt silly but we learn by making some mistakes.

Don't worry,you can win a fight against a serp belt. It isn't that hard to get on there.Sure it might take ya an extra 30 seconds but they're good for 100k miles.How often you gunna mess with it? These ain't every 3 yr/20-30k v-belts.
There is no "flapping all over the place" (I'll keep it family friendly lol) so no concerns there.It runs true,tight and smooth.Try it and you'll see there is 0% concern with this at all.I'm positive you'd agree,once it see it running.
