hey there guys well after a year of buying parts im finally ready to assemble my new long block...the only thing im fighting is the 2 - 1/2" freeze plugs that are located behind the timing cover? the first one I just took a 1/4" drive extension and tried tapping it in...it ended up just pushing the bottom of the freeze plug out...so on the second one I got a size fit socket so it is still inside the freeze plug but not really any slop and it was actually stretching the freeze plug but would not go into the hole...Is there something im missing?

Measure the plug hole in the block and then measure the plug. See what the difference is and report back.
