Here's a exploded view. #3122 has a nut on it and holds the kingpin in place in the axle. The kingpin is #3110.

There is a little divot in the side of the King pin for the bolt.
It keeps the King Pin in place from riding up or sliding down.

I remember that when we did my 69 International 1500B.
They were so worn, just about fell out on the ground when we removed the top/bottom Caps and side Bolt.

You might have to get a shop to press out the old king pins if they are very stuck. I had to replace a ruined spindle on my 64 VW beetle and I needed to reuse the carrier that was attached via the king pin, but even that little pin wouldn't come out. I had to get a shop with a heavy press to remove it. Normally you can hammer it out, but at 58 years old, it wasn't going to come out without a fight. Now imagine a stuck pin on a 250/350. for a sense of scale, the rear drive spindle nut hex on the bug is the same size as the lug nuts on my RV (27mm)
