I have a 400W Cobra inverter, it's pretty nice - two outlets on the front, cooling fan on the back, 30A fuse in the back too, has mounting tabs if you wanna permanently bolt it down (like I have done), and while it is recommended that you hard-wire it to the battery it does come with a cigarette lighter plug too. I think I got it for just $30 on sale, normally it's like $45 or so.

I'm eying the 200-400W ones they have at Walmart by Black & Decker. They have a USB port also for easy charging of ipods, mp3 players, and cell phones.

i lucked out and found a black&decker 750 watt at a pawn shop for $25.
tested it before i bought and so far so good. the usb charging port is nice, just afraid
to use it, not real sure how sensitive smaller electronics are to these modified sine inverters. the price of a true sine inverter is out of my reach so this will do nicely for
keeping my laptop on, and coffee on tap.
