Can a rebuilt injection pump be rebuilt again?

A Stanadyne DB2 injection pump can be rebuild many times. Not much can damage them beyond rebuildable specs.

what causes them to wear out then?

advance piston bore and governor linkage wear is normal, dirty fuel will wear the head and rotor.

Mostly the wear is caused by the poor grade of fuel we have to buy these days. The sulphur was the lubrication. Now that its practically gone from fuel we need to add a fuel lube treatment to our fuel. I run the Stanadyne Performance Formula. I use 4 oz in every tank full. I bought 3 cases of it on my way to the 2009 ralley from a place in Pheniox. Got a really great deal on it... The only place out here in so. ca. its $32.00 per half gallon.... I got 12 gallons of it for around $190.00....

Wow Gary. I've been buying the Stanadyne additive here for 23 bucks half gal.
Last time I was in St George UT, the Oreileys had Howes diesel treat, so I bought some and am trying that out.

Biodiesel makes good lubricant. I try and run at least 5% if I can, truck runs nice on that stuff.
