So I just bought my first 6.9 idi. Its 1986. I used to own a 2000 powerstroke. My first question is about miles shown on my odometer. Picture is below but the guy claimed it had 148000 original miles but odo says 48. What am I missing?

Lots of older vehicles didn't have a 100,000th digit on the odometer. You just have to trust the guy that it only rolled over once.

Most if not all of before 90's the odometer only went to 999,999 never had a 100k as far as I know an not sure you can tell by the title or wear&tear of parts

He says it has 148,000 miles. Odo says 48,000. You guys think it rolled over?

Hard to say, the whole front clip has been replaced I can tell ya that
Ya, he said he did that because he hated the look of the older front clips. So on these older trucks, if it has 210000 miles would it just say 10000 miles on the odo?

Correct, I’d say there’s a good chance it’s rolled over twice, you may be able to find out by looking up the vin

Nevermind, I understand what yall are saying. Everytime it rolls over is 100,000 miles.

@Thewespaul it seems you’ve been around these forums a while and are knowledgeable. Any idea where to pick up new wiring harnesses for my truck?

I’ve got a few but no 83-86 harnesses in good shape. You can send the harness you have to me and I can go through it, rebuild it and make some improvements, but I understand if that’s not possible if you use the truck every day.
