Question for the R&D guys

Question for those guys who are running the rd2-110 pump, I know @Macrobb has one. I’ve tried calling Justin but no dice, like many have said he’s a busy guy.

On the R&D website under the description of the rd2-110 it says this:

I’m hoping that Justin has explained this to some of y’all who have bought this pump and y’all can clarify, but I’m quite sure there is no locating pin for the cam ring on these pumps, is he referring to the advance pin? Or does he add a locating pin to stabilize the cam ring and I’m just confused by the way it’s worded? And did he specify anything on the thrust washer? Because all db2s have a thrust washer on the input shaft, the earlier ones having a brass washer and later cases with a steel washer.

I’m going to try emailing Justin tonight and see if I can get a clarification, I’ll update with anything I learn.

Not my product of course, but based on my interpretation of that, he is using a cam that takes a larger cam pin where it goes into the advance plunger, which also means he is using a different advance plunger or is boring it out. Seems odd to me, because we get all kinds of fuel out of our pumps using the standard pin, but I do remember in his experiments he did break a lot of cam pins. All the pumps except the ones without a weep hole have a roller bearing on the input. It's rare to see a bushing pump these days.

Mel thanks for the great info, the “locating pin” really puzzles me, I can’t see any advantage to going with a larger pin but if that’s what works for him...

I must have gotten some bad info on the input bearing/bushing, I was under the impression that a bearing was an upgrade from the original setup and wasn’t stock
