Headers for 7.3 IDIT?

Howdy fellas, I recently made the decision to rebuild my motor due to the unfortunate fact that it burnt my whole oil sump in about 2 days. While I’m rebuilding I’m curious what I could do for a little more pony power and /or a better engine sound (like the type4 or R&D cam and a CDD turbo along with various odds and ends) I wouldn’t do anything too aggressive because I would “like” to have semi-decent gas mileage.
Anywho, Two big questions:
1.) Do they make any headers for the 7.3 IDIT? I’m not really aiming for performance on these, more so a better sound.
2.) I’ve heard about the alleged sleeved 7.3 with the 6.9 pistons, I know the sleeve would have to be reeeaaalll thick and I’ve found no real conclusion. Regardless, is there a sleeve I could use for a bored over 6.9 piston that would fit into the 7.3?
I’m no IDI old head so id anyone could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

No headers that I know of. They wouldnt do anything anyway and I’d bet they would melt. The exhaust is going to go straight into the turbo. A turbo is going to make it more quiet. It’s not a loud engine. It’s not a big block. It will never be very loud. My 7.3 has a 3” straight pipe and with the turbo it sounds like a jet engine out the tail pipe at idle. Up front sounds like a Idi diesel clack clack…. It will never sound like a power stroke. More power requires head studs, valve springs, more fuel and more air. All that equals less mpgs. It’s just that simple. The cam is good if you need more low end tq. It’s 40year old tech not that many options. More power also equals more heat and less longevity. It’s all a trade off. I can spin my tires with a basically stock7.3 with a banks turbo. It tows our 10.5k horse trailer just fine and still gets 20-25 mpg empty. I can’t imagine needing more power from the truck if I still want mpgs and reliability. . If you want a louder diesel I’d try a power stroke or Cummins. Unless you have loads of money and don’t care how long it last or how much fuel you use. In that case the sky is the limit.

Thanks for the input! I’m not looking for a louder engine sound, just something a little different. Head studs and valve springs are already in my sights, I’ve heard the 910 springs are the best as long as I have them set correctly.
I’m just trying to find a middle ground between reliability, performance, gas mileage.

I wish I could’ve gotten gas mileage like that! I was lucky enough to get 12-14 on average!

There has been talk of Headers every now and then.
Here is a thread from a few years back, are they available...IDK.
Did a Google search and found it.

Here is the Google Search I did. Plenty of reading pleasure.

A far as I know, Stan's no longer makes IDI headers. Justin sells some, but they're designed like the stock exhaust manifolds.

I hope you’re not getting any GAS milage. It’s a diesel engine. It’s diesel or fuel but not gas. Hahaha

Yes. It’s called a proper tune and a light foot. 33’s and 4.30 gears. I have a 57g tank. My gps speedo that is calibrated to my phone says I go over 1400miles in between fill ups. I can drive from my home in Southern California to my place just west of Albuquerque on a tank of fuel.

I drove a 2001 v10 super duty with 4.88s and 35s got mid 20s also for 600,000 miles with zero major work. Still had the original water pump.
