Yep. we call it a tuna can. That's the low vacuum switch. It's supposed to light up a light on the dash somewhere if the vacuum gets to be too low.

Maybe. I don't think mine ever worked. I unhooked that vacuum from it while I was trying to fix a low vacuum output issue. The light never did light up. That's why I prefer a vacuum gauge.

Maybe it can be one more thing for the trash bin then.

New aluminum fuel lines installed! I’m hoping a 30 foot loop of aluminum will help keep fuel temps down on the 110 degree days.

Thee is also the black round ball that is part of it also.
When I lost vacuum, no light ever came on, easy to tell
when I lost it, the Brakes didn`t work. Great indicator.
Gave them the deep 6, probably went in the Shop Wood
Stove.

Installed Hydro Boost, that took care of the Vacuum problem.

Be a good idea to install a vacuum gauge, to keep an eye on
the vac pump etc...

I had a close call with some rain!! Thankfully as soon as it started I thought “oh no I never checked to see if that truck has a good cowl seal” and ran over and threw a bag over the air cleaner. Of course it stopped raining shortly there after.

I ran into a serious problem with the wiring last night! I put my 87 diesel front harness into the 91 and than I learned that most of the plugs on the 91 are different, specifically the ones that relate to all things happening under and in the rear of the truck.

So now I have turn lamps and such but I have no gauges, alternator, or injector pump control.

Can anyone tell me if the timing solonoid on the IP needs power when engine is cold or power when engine is warm?

Timing solenoid is power when cold only.
