There were some bolts that stuck out too far from a front trac bar that tried to tear open my oil pan as I didn’t see them and for some reason it was just a very difficult fit in the input shaft in the trans, icing on the cake was that two of the bolts on the freshly modified ZF gasser bell housing did not want to play ball at all, simply wouldn’t start on the threads. One eventually went in fine and the other no dice so I will try and get a tap into it on Monday.

Thanks for the guidance everyone and here’s a photo of the aluminum shavings all over :)

That's a really great idea for modifing the bell housing! Using the adapter as the template is a guarantee that you won't screw up! Great job @captain720 !!!

Is there another way to do it? It makes sense to me to use the pattern that we bought with the truck.
I remember seeing a "template", with a bunch of triangulation and measuring. I haven't had to do such a thing and probably would have "brained" it out if I had too. But now I don't have to, as well as I have an extra diesel ZF-5, so I really shouldn't have to......but if I ever do, The Captain has liberated my thought process.

Now, that being said, I did have a 1978 F100 for a while. I hit a deer and it knocked out a headlight, turn signal, and about half of the grille. I bought a new headlight, decided that no grille looked better than half of one, and taped a couple of front turn signals from a 1975 F150 to the front bumper. Keep in mind that everything worked. A cop pulled me over claiming that I didn't have front turn signals. I informed him that I most certainly did so he made me use every light on that truck so he could write me a ticket. He was SO mad when he had to let me go! See? Just be legal and everything will be alright.

Just got my new alluminum fuel lines from summit today so I can put together the fuel system and get this thing ready to hopefully tow its old self to the scrap yard soon.
