I like 15-40 Rotella and a wix filter, even though I have been running Fram Powerstroke filters for a while.

Can't remember the part number for the filter but a non-turbo 7.3 takes 10 1/2 qts of oil if I remember correctly.

I run Rotella 15W-40 in all my diesel engines.

I tired running Rotella in mine but it seemed to suck it down really fast so I switched to Motocraft 15w40 and it doesn't do it as bad.....as for filters...yea, get a 7.3 Powerstroke filter....better filtration and more oil capacity.

You bet, I just looked in my records and the WIX # for a 6.9L is 51742, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 7.3s use the same filter

Get some Delo 15w-40 and use the powerstroke filter. it holds more and filters to a finer level The Wix number is WIX 51734 . Your engine will take 10 qts with the idi filter, 11 qts with the powerstroke filter. Make sure to check it hot after it's sat a bit . Don't fill it up to the top line when cold or you will burn off the excess quickly.

Is that the number for the IDI filter or the PowerStroke filter, if its for the IDI then disregard my last post.
