Ok an hour under the truck with 3 cans of Valvoline brake cleaner (on sale at Advanced!) and several shop rags later, I have a clean lower engine.

I went back out an hour later and found a drop of oil on the bottom of the starter housing, Upon further inspection it seems like the oil is coming from the junction of tranny and the back of the engine. Rear main seal?!

I sure hope so! I had it replaced when I had my flywheel reground and clutch done - which means it's under warranty .

What else could it be from that area? Cam seals?

Most likely its the rear main seal cover at the pan joint. Although it still could be the sel itself... Have the shop that did the work look at it with you under the truck. They will probably try to tell you its on you and will try to explain it away from their work....

Nah it's a good local shop and one of the things we discussed ad-museum before they got the job was the warranty. I think it'll be OK. TechNet shop.
