My engine seems to start when cold without too much protesting. Th fast idle solenoid has failed so I use the manual fast idle (my foot). I can take my foot off as soon as it starts and It seems to idle fine even when cold at normal idle position, just slower than when warm. Just off idle, the engine seems like it’s missing. It’s like when a two stroke goes into four-stroking but slower (eight-stroking)? Like a diesely bwaaap-bwaaap-bwaaap. It’s brief and then The engine takes off and sounds normal again. Anyone else experience this? What is this sound? Is it normal? If it does this to me as I back out of my driveway I have been taking it as a sign that I haven’t let it warm up enough and just stop and wait for a minute or two with the engine at 900 or so. That takes care of it.
