went to change the oil pump seals, whenI put the inpact on the balancer bolt the crank looked to move in,
so I gots the prybar out and shure enough gots 3/16" ensdplay in the crank.
dont even need the bar to move it.
guess how my sunday will be spent.

Uh Oh! Where did the thrust bearing go? Should be lots of metal in the pan. 3/16" that's about the thickness of it.

put a dial indicator on it .100 was the endplay.
so in went the unknown 22k motor out of the 2wd parts truck.
12 hrs and some fluids later its runnin.

man - I'm staring down the barrels of possibly having to swap engines in my '01 - if I pull the head and find piston problems instead of valve problems like I'm hoping.

I have the garage and most of the tools - just short on time, maybe I should pay you to do the swap!

SD s are alot easier to pull the 7.3 from than the OBS
