just wanted to get everyones opinions about shooting some nos into a idi (mines turboed) and if anyone has done it pic would b nice thanks!

Not really sure if using it in the engine would be the best idea, but there are other uses for nitrous oxide that boost power and dont subject your engine to the stresses of injecting it. IE super cooling the intercooler. It's done all the time in the professional import tuner world with some pretty amazing results.

You would run out of fuel before you could get much benefit out of it.

If you have black smoke at WOT and boost doesnt clear it up, then a small shot would help

I would only be concerned about the pressure spike when it hits, because the motor's on the edge with the turbo. Depending on how much of a shot you give it, you may pop the headgaskets.

yeah thats what i was more concerend about was the pressures, i just wanted to c if anyone ad any catostrofic faliures

The thing about the IDI is that it was never set up from the factory for forced induction, and unless the compression and cam timing are changed so that it's optimized that way, you won't reap the maximum benefit. This goes for turbo, supercharger or nitrous.

The exhaust needs to be totally free flowing, more duration on the exhaust side to evacuate the cylinder, and lower compression. Banks uses nitrous on the Duramax powered S10 to great effect. No smoke and 7's in the quarter.

ha well 4 now iam just researching cuz i have a motor in my garage from a donor truck and iam goning to shave the pistons and get the cam ground ether way so just tryn to get info for now

If you are going to go for the gold, make sure that sucker wolfs down a good 250hp shot!

Ok I remember now. Way back when I was a TDS member, it was one of the first things I asked. I got one response. He said that he had used it on his truck before, and it helped out. He said sometimes the engine would actually cut out he was putting so much in...I guess cooling the air too much?

try too much air being displaced.
at our fuel levels, you will get better results with propane injection before you will with nitros.

Ok thats what he said. Something along those lines. I also think he said if you hit it to low of rpm it would do the above, but was ok up top (makes sense I suppose).

I think the a small small shot for 1/4 mile purposes would be fine. Do they make a 25hp shot? Something that small would probably be ok at higher rpm's I would think. Clean up the smoke and burning that fuel will increase power.

But I agree propane will probably net bigger gains

well ill try both then ha i would like to make my own propane setup on my street truck but idk what to do about the nozzle, any ideas? i have seen the copper one and i dont really like them
