ok, not a truck i know, if need be it can be deleted but i cannot find a solution to this anywhere and the mustang forums aren't much help so far so hopefully i can get something here

i recently picked up a 97 mustang and when i pull the headlight switch on the headlights come on but not the marker lights or dash lights, also the marker lights and dash lights dont come on when the switch is pulled to the marker light position. but if the switch is pushed slightly in from the headlight position then the marker lights and dash lights will come on. i thought it was the switch so i bought a new one and put in but it has the same problem except when you push the switch slightly in to get the marker lights to come on the headlights go off, which they stayed on with the original switch
i have checked all fuses and they are fine and did continuity checks on both switches and they are good

i am at a loss as to what it could be or where i should look next, any help would be much appreciated.

there is a box screwed into the steering column.
this box houses the ignition switch.
your key only actuates a rod to the switch.
the switch is adjustable
try adjusting the switch.

Shouldn't.
Make check the grounds.
Don't ask me where they are. Lol
Did you look at the plug?
