1) What kind of chip is it? can you tell who made it?

2) If the chip isn't fully seated or the contacts on the ECU aren't clean enough or have been cleaned too much it can cause issues. You need to just remove the clear coating and not part of the contacts themselves.

3) I would remove the chip and see how the truck drives stock, then go from there.

How many miles are on the truck? The HPOP are pretty stout and can last a long long time.

when dealing with issues with a powerstroke.
if your running a chip, always remove chip/programmer.
then disconnect batteries.
you need to reset the monitors.
this is why you disconnect batteries.
some say touch the + and - together after both batteries have been disconnected.
i say, get a scanner and clear/reset monitors.

my buddy had a hydra chip in his, eventually killed the CPU.
now it may have had other issues. but he got a new CPU and it ran better than the old CPU w/ the hydra
that also could have been do to the flashing.

You know a big part of this could be the chip has the wrong tunes. Could be setup for a newer truck.

Does it work at all?
Should be a really brief flash when turning the key on. Easy to miss.
Should still have a Cylinder Contribution Test and Injector Buzz Test ran.

any decent OBD II scanner can do a contribution test.
my snap on solus will do it.
any mechanics shop will do it for a fee.
