I'm thinking about doing new injectors in my truck. Well, maybe- my fuel economy has seemed like it has dropped off a bit since I bought the truck, it has 103K on it right now and I've only put probably 6-7K on it since I bought it.
Now, I DID find out just in the last few days that I have a weak lift pump, I'm only seeing 1.5 psi at the filter head at idle, 2.5 psi on fast idle, so I ordered a Carter P4070 and I'm gonna see if that helps any.
If not I may also try putting on some new injectors. What's the best place to get them from? I'd certainly like some moose injectors but I think they're out of my price range at the moment. Also is new or rebuilt better? I also thought maybe it would be a good idea to send the injectors out and have them flowed and equalized.
One last thing- I've heard a lot of mention about timing. However I can't seem to find a diesel timing meter on ebay or elsewhere that actually still has a luminosity probe. I also have previously looked for the timing mark on my IP and I couldn't see it. Is there some "backyard" way I could play with the timing and see if MPG & power improve?
