Diagram? 1 second......

I made this when Dyoung was having issues a while back. It's been checked, and is 100% accurate to the solid state system that was factory installed on the Ford Diesel trucks and vans from 1987 - 1994

The WTS light coming on and going right off, followed by clicking means there is not enough resistance in the system to make the controller cycle.

You either have something hooked up wrong (which is what I hope is going on) or you are going to need to install several, if not 8 new glow plugs.

I see in your previous thread that you installed Motorcraft plugs, which is a good thing!

Is your GP system still fed by the two YELLOW wires from the engine harness plug on the driver side? If so, THIS might be the issue.

Pull that plug apart and check for melting and corrosion.

Then do what I did. Run a good 2/0 cable from the lug on the controller/relay where the YELLOW wires were hooked....then run this new cable to the LIVE side of the passenger side fender mounted starter solenoid, or hook it right to the live side of the battery terminal.

This will give you a GOOD SOLID 12v supply to the controller, this might be your issue!

and it's not a circuit breaker that is in the glow plug controller. Can't be because a CB works off of current and heat - meaning that with 8 good plugs the current draw would be higher (lower overall ohmic value to the circuit) so you would have more heat generated in the CB.

Actually it uses a voltage comparator circuit which is not dependent upon heat generated in the sampling circuit.

On the stud that the Z strip (resistor) hooks to at the bottom, where teh GP's get their power....is there a green wire from the controller hooked up there? If not, there should be.

They All worked before I changed the controller. If they all turn out to be bad it has to be a faulty controller right? If thats the case it's push button time

check your connections first, you might have made an error during rewiring - I've done it before on many things - even when I was swapping over one wire at a time - did it a couple of weeks ago on a PLC Analog Card - felt like a fool but it happens......

Here is good pic's of the GPC. The bottom side of the GPC show a significant difference in the circuit's. The one on the right is the 1st one I got from U-Haul, the one on the bottom is 1 of the next 5 from U-Haul.
Does anyone know which is the latest one. I am prone to believe the one on the right is, which is the same as the one on my 92 IDI that burned up. I am going to have to do some testing to see if there is a difference in operation. This will get interesting.

Cinn Guy, which one do you have?

The bottom one in your photos.

OK. Now I know which one you have.
What I'm going to do is hook up all 8 GP's to each controller, and see if there is a difference inoperation. First with 8 Beru, then with 8 Bosch. Gonna take a day or two tho, but I'll post and try to make a video of the test's.

Well actually good new, although it makes me feel like a dummy. The nut on the z strip for the glow ply plugs was loose. All is good now. On to replace the batteries.

That's really funny. When I was taking the pic of the GP Controllers the nuts were loose on them. Was going to tell you to check your NUTS., but thought you might take it wrong. :rotflmao:rotflmao
