New filter claims???

So I'm sure some of you read Diesel power mag. Have you seen the multi page ads for the FS2500 oil filter . Lots of claims about semi owners not changing there engine oil in 121k or 325k miles??? Whats up with that??? Those are some big claims. Why would you run engine oil that long??? Oil does break down after time. Seems unreal to me. Your thoughts???

I have the Oil Guard set up and change the oil every 5k. I change the bypass filter every other change.

I suppose if the oil was tested it could be pushed that far.

But the oil is cheaper than rebuilding the engine so I will stick with a 5k change.

easiest thing you can do to ruin an engine is not change the oil AND FILTER at regular intervals...
I don't get what these companies think they're getting at... sell a product until monetary claims agaist it exceed the company's value then declare and hide behind bankruptcy?

121k their crazy, 325k extra crazy oil is pretty cheap compared to a 5k rebuild

see thats my thoughts as well... Ive seen inside engines that don't get oil changes regularly, black chunks of crustation oil buildups... often oil chunks will fill oil return passages and restrict oil flow back down to the pan... I don't get why the think anyone would buy there filter and change there engine every decade or for more used engines, once a year????

There are semi's out there that has the factory oil fill in them. Gulf Coast also has a by-pass system. They use regular filter change intervals and pull an oil sample then also. No oil is not cheaper when you are changing 10 to 12 gallons a month.

Some of those engines have over 1,000,000 miles on them and never touched, Go Figure.

I was talking to an Amsoil Dealer a few months back and he was telling me how great Amsoil is along with their filters and that his truck (Can recall what he was driving) but his claim was that he has 55+K on his oil and has no plans on changing it.

we change rotella at 25k 10$ gallon oil 8 gallons + 15$ filter = 95$ 1 million mile life = 40 changes = 3800$ / 100k miles a year thats only $380 a year in my book thats cheap insurance Why even waste money on oil samples when your truck can make $1800 a week easy?

well I guess if I had a cheap car/truck, I would give there filter a try... Ultimately if you keep oil clean from contaminates, it should last a good long time. Probably longer that most users change it out. If they have samples tested, and showing good results, Ok. If you look at a hydro system, unless a hose leaks you don't change it. Now I do understand that engine oil contaminates soot and carbon into the oil system that hydro systems don't. But as for wear abilities I'm speaking of. If the data says its good, data collected from these trucking industries is good data source, then maybe its something. Its just hard to believe, coming from a mentality to change your oil often 3-5k miles that oil can last more than 10k miles little lone 100K+ as the claims.
