5.9 12 valve oil filter housing lines

Long time listener, first time caller. I’m starting on my 12v Cummins swap and this is my first cummins I’ve messed with. It’s a 1997 p pump 12 valve out of an F800. So it’s an industrial version if that matters. My questions is, what is this second port/ line that comes out of the oil filter housing? I’ll attach photos of my own engine and others for reference. I’ve seen other 12v’s with this port plugged, and some with lines connected to I don’t know what. All I know is that my port is not threaded for a plug. And I also know oil will shoot out during a bench start…

Whatever was on there has probably snapped off. Try an easy-out to remove what's left? It's simply a port to take pressurized oil from for accessory equipment, or a sensor/gauge.

What you have is a road-use engine, albeit from a heavier duty truck than a dodge. "Industrial" is a poor label, because that's typically generator, earth-mover, marine, etc. The injection pump on a true industrial one usually makes for quite a miserable driving experience in a road vehicle.

Thanks u2slow, last night that’s what I ended up doing with an easy out, slapped a plug in it and it ran it with no problem.
Also good point, should have specified it was from a 1997 F700
