Anyone know what these o-rings are for? They came with my gasket/rebuild kit. I'm finishing up a rebuild on a S-47 4x4, and I don't recall seeing these on the disassembly.

Looks like the two thin ones are for the shifter, but not sure on the other 3.

Thanks

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I called the company who sold me the kit. Spoke with a tech who couldn't tell me where they came from, either.

Does a 2wd possibly need more o-rings than a 4wd? (Speedo or yoke?)

Do any of the zf's use an o-ring seal on the drain and fill plugs? I don't remember them using one but those 2 thin ones look about the right size.

Ok so the drain and fill plugs would be where those two same size ones go.

I don't think there is any in the 2wd tail housing either, but it has been a couple years since I have had one apart.

My drain and fill plugs have metal washers that have a rubber inner section, but earlier ones may not have had that same setup.

Maybe. One of my ZFs had a slight drip from the drain. I pulled it and was like ya it’s definitely missing an oring where it looks like it should be. Pulled the fill plug and yep same oring as your pic.

Speedo cable o ring is very small looks like injector return o ring
2wd zf5 output yoke uses a seal like the pinion in the diff

From the zf5 that I’ve worked with they are just tapered threads no washer or o ring

It’s probably just a case of random extra parts one time I bought a reseal kit for my 6.9 and it came with so many random things that didn’t go to an idi so I wouldn’t worry about them
