Took it out for a drive. Still gotta bleed my clutch a little bit as it doesn't really like going into 1st or reverse. But it drives! Gonna work on the clutch some more tomorrow. But I'm excited!

Took my boys for a drive and went to fill it up.

It was a good thing I had a funnel in the bed because... I had no idea that the hole in a gas fill tube is too small for a diesel nozzle!

Guess it's not quite done yet!

Couldn't figure out why the truck would get warm enough to turn the fans on sitting in my driveway but my temp went all the way cold as soon as I hit the road.

Guess this'll do that to ya!

New thermostat and I have heat again!

So... I'm gettign down to nitpicky stuff here.

Just spent 20 minutes cruising the web looking for cool Turbo Diesel emblems. But here's my dilemma. The Mazda is a B2600i. But my 4d55t is a 2.3 I can get 94 and later Mazda B2300 emblems. But should I?

I hate being indecisive.

Drove my truck to my in-laws to return the engine stand I borrowed to my father-in-law.

"Wow. That looks like a mighty fine installation. I hope you're proud of it."

Yeah... With the bellhousing it was almost a bolt in swap. Not real crazy.

But I'm also self employed as a lawnmower\small engine mechanic. And this is(was) my slow season. So I had more time than some folks might.

But I got it done just in time. Now my shop is full of lawnmowers. Lol

200 miles and no issues. 29 mpg, and I haven't been trying to keep off the skinny pedal. It's too much fun.

I am jealous. I drove Izuzu pups for years. They would push 40 on the highway. Eventually it got hard to find them without frame cancer.
My son just got an old hardbody and wants to put a five cylinder benz motor I have, but I think its too ambitious for a 15 year old to take on.

I looked at a couple different swaps(om617, Kubota v series, 4bt, vw) and when I saw that this mazda swap was almost a bolt-in swap, I decided that both I and my wallet had the ability to handle it. I had bought the Mazda for $600, bought my donor ram 50 for $900 and sold it for $300. Bought $200 worth of bellhousing and oilpan, $100 clutch and $350 to $400 in 5 or 6 "this is gonna be my last trip to Napa"

So I can't complain at all.

I still need to have a custom exhaust made. But I'm happy driving it with a straight pipe dumping under the cab.

Oh. I need tires too.

So it's "done". But not done.

Does everything read correct on the dash?
Everything but the tach. I've got a Dakota digital tach converter I still need to install to take care of that though. Probably find time next week.
As soon as I got this out of my shop, my shop filled up with lawn mowers.

That time of year...

I gotta figure out how many teeth the pickup has to pick up so I can calibrate it. That or find a tach gun so I can just guess and check against known speed.
