And it sounds SWEET!!

I had to temporarily not hook up my intercooler, because I need to fab a new intake hat (again...arrrrgggghhh!) so it's hooked up straight into the manifold for now. I'm pushing about 6psi unloaded, so it looks like I need to shorten the wastegate rod a turn or four to bring the boost up. For now, the damn thing quit leaking, and seems to run GREAT!

One casualty of the install though...I had the exhaust sitting on the floor of the shop, and one of the other guys backed over my nice chrome exhaust tip. It's all deformed now, so I'll have to get a new one

The culprit of my oil leak was definitely the old turbo's shaft seal- it'll need rebuilt for sure by the next owner. I'll post it all up for sale here this weekend hopefully.

It spools almost instantly, but I imagine it'll get a bit laggy with the intercooler hooked up. I really am excited to get the IC hooked up, as this is the layout it was designed to work with. When I purchased the IC from ATS, they didn't have the intake hat for the IC- it'd been discontinued. I've never seen one first hand to see how they fit or what I need to make. Anybody have a picture of how it's supposed to be setup? I seem to recall Darrin had a picture a while back, but haven't run across it yet...

Now, is it me or does this kit look almost exactly the same as the old wastegated kit? The only difference I see is the turbo has a bigger intake housing/opening.

Also, where is that line going from the wastegate head? Just curious.....

It is the same layout as far as I know as the older wastegated kit, but uses the newer Aurora series turbo, with a standard T3/T4 style flange on the exhaust inlet. It has a huge 4" inlet, but the actual bore size on the inlet is similar to the older setup- around 2.5. I'll have to get some pictures with the intake off soon...

The line from the WG actuator is going to the compressor side of the turbo. I've been tempted to see how much boost it'd make by disconnecting it...but I don't want to boost the heads off the block...

Thanks Towcat. Does that setup lend itself to using the ATS supplied airbox? Secondly, did you have to clock the discharge of the compressor up to clear the base of that hershey kiss lookin thing? Third, want to save me the trouble of fabbing one and just send that one to me? I'll need the boots too please...

1)everything fitted like a glove. I have to give them credit, they did alot of engineering on the setup.
2)no reclocking needed, the rubber boot made it all work without reclocking the compressor. believe me, that was the first concern.
3)only when I'm dead. And then you will have to fight off all the other local vultures who want the truck whole or in parts........

that gives me some new ideas calvin, I have never seen a pic of the actual hat. I wrapped my crossover pipe today and it does bring in the low speed boost quicker, about 1 lb average. Did you mail that item?

I know you're a skilled aluminum fabricator. Any chance you can make something similar? I'm only setup to fab with steel, and would like something more like the proper ATS setup. I know it's cast, and they have NO interest in pouring any more as far as I can tell. From what I saw while assembling mine today, the had needs a pretty good cutout or flat spot near the compressor discharge to clear it and allow the IC piping to hook up.

I never got a 45° elbow in my kit like Towcat pictured...I'll likely have to order some more silicone couplers too...
